Abstract

Recent computing advances in artificial intelligence, computer graphics, human-computer inter-face, networking, parallel processing, and software engineering pull simulation model development in different directions. This paper discusses the impacts of significant advances in these areas on simulation model development, overviews how our Simulation Model Development Environment design is influenced by the recent advances, and speculates on the impacts of predicted future advances in these areas on simulation model development. The paper concludes that the computing advances in the six areas can be integrated under a simulation environment to provide an extremely powerful platform for simulation model development and execution.
