Abstract
The technology of the 197O's and 80's has introduced electronics equipment with capabilities that were not considered possible only a few short years ago. The impact has been widespread, providing innovations in business, professional, military, and government applications with considerable political, economic, and social ramifications. With the rapid increase in capabilities has come a corresponding growth in the need to better manage these high-tech resources in order to realize their potential. A primary key to achieving this end is the cost effective, rapid, and reliable processing of information through networking.
